Cross-Country

In 2019 the Sunday UCI XCO C3 professional cross country race returns to it’s Sea Otter roots – single lap- long loop course on Fort Ord National Monument trails. Final XC Course TBA (BLM Permit pending), but expect a 30+ mile single loop course, with one feed/tech zone.

**Also, note the change in the RACE DAY to Sunday April 14 – just before the amateur cross country – 7:30 a.m. UCI PRO MEN/7:40 UCI PRO WOMEN.

All Sunday cross country races start at the Sea Otter Classic Bridge and finish at the Tire Bridge.

NEW in 2019 a Thursday UCI XCO HC professional cross country racing is being offered featuring the  Sea Otter venue short course – on trails/roads within the Laguna Seca Recreation Area. This is a new event in 2019 – giving athletes a chance to race twice!  11:00 a.m. UCI PRO MEN/9:00 a.m. UCI PRO WOMEN.

Thursday cross country race starts at the Tire Bridge and finishes at the Tire Bridge.

The professional mountain bike downhill is an individual race against the clock. The race course starts at the top of Laguna Seca Recreation Area – and follows the flowing contours of the hillside to a sprint finish at the bottom.

Dual Slalom

The 100% professional mountain bike dual slalom is a heads-up race against each other. The race course starts at the top of Laguna Seca Recreation Area swale – and uses the contour of the hillside to negotiate berms, rollers, and a rhythm section or two. The Saturday 4:00 pm Finals – where thousands will be on-hand to watch – feature the world’s fastest 32 men and 16 women.

The professional mountain bike enduro is racing that combines descending skills and overall fitness. The enduro starts at the top of Laguna Seca Recreation Area – Stage 1 uses the downhill course. Stages 2 and 3 feature Fort Ord National Monument trails, with untimed transfers between all stages.

Field limit is 600 – no waitlist.

The PRO Mens’ and Women’s Road Race will start at the Tire Bridge and continue down Barloy Canyon Road to a new Fort Ord race loop. After completing the required laps of the loop for your category, you will climb back up Barloy Canyon Road, to its crest, for a mountaintop finish.

Circuit Race

The professional circuit race utilizes the world renowned Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca, an 11-turn, 2.4 mile with 108’ elevation change, closed circuit. NEW Race day in 2020 – Thursday.

The Bulls eMTB Race ePowered by Bosch – is sanctioned by USA Cycling. The race utilizes portions of the Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca, and Trail 47 (Hurl Hill) of the Fort Ord National Monument. Loop distance is approx. 7 miles. Racers will complete 60-80 minutes of racing – one to three laps. Men’s and Women’s Professional Prize Purse is 1st = $750/2nd = $500/3rd = $250.

Only eMTBs that meet the following California Vehicle Code specifications for a Class 1 electric bicycle are allowed to race:

  • only bikes operated by the following systems may race: Bosch, Brose, Shimano, or Yamaha
  • includes fully operable pedals
  • includes an electric motor of less than 750 watts that provides assistance only when the rider is pedaling
  • the motor ceases to provide assistance when the bicycle reaches a speed of 20 miles per hour
  • the bicycle does not include a throttle

All eMTBs must pass a technical inspection no later than 30 minutes prior to race start time.  Top finisher’s bikes will be inspected after the finish of their race.  An inspection corral will be located near the start/finish of the race at the Tire Bridge.

Demo eMTBs may be available from BULLS and Bosch for use during the race.  When registering online for the race, you can request to be contacted by BULLS or Bosch for information regarding their demo program.

Gravel Race

NEW for 2020 – the professional gravel race is a wave start race. The race course starts at the Laguna Seca Recreation Area – you will climb the “Corkscrew” – and then travels the challenging trails and gravel roadways of the Fort Ord National Monument. Race distances approximately 30 miles.
