Kenda powers up e-bike tire Line
Reynoldsburg, OH, – Kenda Tire continues to further strengthen the E-Bike compatible line of tires with added offerings in multiple mountain bike categories as well as urban/trekking models.
Senior Director of Kenda North American Bicycle Division, Al Clark, states that “e-bikes, in their various designs, continue to be the fastest growing segment of the market. Kenda is committed to servicing that market as well as being a leader in offering trekking and mountain bike tires that meet the most stringent standards.”
Currently Kenda segments urban/trekking e-bike compatible tires into E-25 (max speed 25kph) and E-50 (max speed 50kph) classes; the E-50 models having passed the European ECE-R75 certification. Urban/trekking models are marked with an icon specifying E-25 or E-50 on the tire sidewall.
E-bike compatible mountain bike tires are certified to the same ECE-R75 standard (max speed 50kph) and are identifiable by a green EMC (E-Mountain Casing) icon on the tire sidewall.

Kenda revamps road bike Line with new technology
Reynoldsburg, OH, – Kenda Tire’s line of road bike tires have been revamped for the 2018 season, to take advantage of the proprietary puncture protection K-Armor fabric developed for the Valkyrie Pro line of tires.
Ben Anderson, Director of Kenda North American Bicycle, states that “the change to K-Armor was an easy decision for us to make. Building on everything we learned with the Valkyrie tires, we were able to extend that down the line of road bike product to improve the performance and durability.”
K-Armor was first featured on the Valkyrie Pro and was released in late 2016 as part of Kenda’s initiative to improve it’s road tire offerings. With the upgrade to K-Armor, Kenda is able to produce tires that offer more than twice the puncture protection of a tire using a traditional aramid puncture liner. Additionally, in the tire building process, K-Armor adheres to rubber 285% more effectively than aramid allowing for the use of less rubber and resulting in a stronger and lighter tire overall.
The Kountach Pro replaces the aramid sub-tread breaker with a K-Armor version(KA); while the dual protection layer Kountach Endurance now features a sheet of K-Armor running from bead-to-bead topped off with an additional layer under the tread rubber, Endurance 1 construction (E1). The Kriterium Endurance, Kenda’s workhorse tire for training, receives the bead-to-bead upgrade while still maintaining the sub-tread layer of K-Shield flat protection, Endurance 2 construction (E2).
