Danny MacAskill is quite possibly the best known bike rider in the world… Since his breakthrough YouTube film in 2009, Danny’s profile has soared with further releases enjoying similar viral success totaling over 250 million views. In addition to the online success, Danny is also a live show favorite, constantly drawing huge crowds, desperate to see some of his best known tricks in a live environment. After he has performed demonstrations at venues all over the world at sport events, trade shows, music festivals and corporate events, we are more than happy to announce that Danny will be now performing at Sea Otter Classic. His performance on a custom made display rig featuring transitions, jumps, and technical riding, interactive commentary and signing sessions after each show will endeavor to engage and interact with our audience. The event is supported by Sea Otter Classic and Crankbrothers.
About Danny MacAskill:
Danny MacAskill is a professional mountain bike and street trial rider born and raised in Dunvegan on the Isle of Skye, Scotland.
On April 19th, 2009 he released a 5 1/2 minute street trials video on YouTube that was about to change his life. Filmed by his friend Dave Sowerby, the video got hundreds of thousands of views over night and as of today has been watched well over 37 million times – the world went absolutely crazy about Danny. Since his breakthrough, Danny has been riding all over the globe, performing stunning shows in front of large crowds.
With the help of his sponsor Red Bull Danny released his second riding clip ‘Way Back Home’ in November 2010. It follows him on a journey from Edinburgh back to his hometown Dunvegan, on the Isle of Skye. It turned out to be one of his most successful videos with more than 38 million views.
In 2012 he was given the honor of baring the Olympic torch during its tour through the City of Glasgow. Since then, Danny has been working closely with his partners to cross the boundaries of imagination and produce unique, breathtaking moving images.
In 2013 Danny completed one of his biggest projects: the unbelievable ‚Danny MacAskill’s Imaginate’ clip, which was an amazing success. The viral has now become his most watched YouTube video with over 64 million views. One year later Danny created ‚Epecuén’ which shows his stunning performance featured in a forgotten city in Argentina. In That year marked another big milestone for Danny, as he released his first video project on a mountain bike – ‘The Ridge‘ – with 12 million views within the first week!
With 2014 being a very successful year already, Danny once again embarked on a new journey – having founded the Drop and Roll team, Danny is touring across the world performing spectacular live shows in front of enthusiastic crowds with three of his close friends and talented riders. In 2015 Danny went on an insane journey across the rooftops of Gran Canaria. Mixing vertigo-inducing lines and stunning POV-footage with one of the highlights being a front flip off a 60ft. cliff which and landed in the rough ocean. Up until now ‘Cascadia’ has reached more than 21 million views.
2016 marked another big step for Danny, as two major projects were launched. Together with Penguin books he released his first autobiography “At the Edge – Riding for My Life”, shortly followed by his latest clip „Wee Day Out“, which shows Danny performing tricks on his mountain bike that haven’t been seen before.

Watch 12x US National Champion Mike Steidley as he traverses a custom set of obstacles, jumps, and ramps during this high-energy feature. Steidley has performed stunt shows all across the US and in 23 different countries, as well as on EpicTV, the Vans Warped Tour and VW Major Motion Picture Tour, entertaining thousands of spectators and fans.
Steidley’s show will be featured daily at this years’ event, and each show will be followed by an autograph session that often includes free posters, samples, and give-aways. Make sure to stop by the Kenda booth to check out the action, as well as the latest in Kenda premium tires and tubes.”

Sea Otter Demo Courses
There are four demo courses available at Sea Otter. Please review the details below regarding each course and plan accordingly. Refer to the Sea Otter Demo Map for course location.
eMTB Demo Course
The eMTB demo course features compact dirt and a controlled route that allows riders to experience acceleration, small hill climbing and the ease of handling on all turns. This course is designed for intermediate to advanced riding levels. All participants are required to wear a helmet.
Road eBike Demo Couse
The Road eBike Demo Couse is on mostly flat ground and roughly paved asphalt surface which features a short, controlled route that allows riders to experience acceleration and the ease of handling on the turnaround at the end of the track. This course is designed for beginner to advanced riding levels. All participants are required to wear a helmet.
Skills Zone – Sponsored by Chain Reaction Cycles
The Skills Zone features compact dirt on a narrow track that offers a backcountry feel with small bumps and more advance obstacles. This course is designed for intermediate to advanced mountain bike riding levels. All participants are required to wear a helmet. Electric bicycles are not allowed in the Skills Zone.
Kids’ Ride Zone – Sponsored by Specialized
The Kids Ride Zone features compact dirt on a wide track that offers small bumps with easy turns and obstacles. The course is designed for beginners up to 12 years of age. All participants are required to wear a helmet. Only children’s bicycles are allowed on this course. Electric bicycles are not allowed in the Kids’ Ride Zone.
IMPORTANT – Only low speed electric bicycles (LSEB) will be allowed on the eBike demo courses. The LSEB must clearly display an electric bike class label. Electric bicycles or vehicles that do not meet California Class 1, 2, or 3 designations will not be allowed on the course. Additional information regarding electric bicycle classification is attached.
Basic Rules & Regulations
- ANSI-approved helmets are mandatory.
- Each demo participant must sign a waiver and wear a waiver wristband.
- All bikes must be removed from each demo course by closing time.
