  1. This is not a race.
  2. Helmets are mandatory. Cyclists must wear an ANSI or SNELL approved cycling helmet with the chin strap buckled at all times while riding on the course.
  3. Obey all traffic laws. All cyclists are personally responsible for obeying all traffic laws; this includes – but is not limited to – traffic lights and stop signs. Violators may be ticketed by local law enforcement and/or disqualified and removed from the event. All riders are personally responsible for knowing California’s traffic laws.
  4. Ride safely and in control. Ride in single file whenever possible. Any cyclist who is deemed to be riding unsafely, discourteously or recklessly will be removed from the event and banned from future Sea Otter events. THIS IS A RIDE, NOT A RACE. Your safety is your responsibility.
  5. No personal support vehicles.
  6. Display your event number & wear your wristband. All registered cyclists must wear their event number on their jersey, display their event number on their handlebars and wear their official wristband. Riders who fail to do so will not receive an official finish time.
  7. No unregistered individuals. Unregistered riders will be prohibited from entering certain sections of the course during the event, and will not have access to aid stations, finish line party or other event activities.
  8. No tricycles, trailers or other vehicles. This event is for bicycles only.
  9. No iPods, headphones or personal stereos.
  10. Rain or shine. The event will occur regardless of weather conditions, so please come prepared.
  11. NO children under 12 will be allowed on the “long” loop – the short loop is the most appropriate for those wishing to participate under the age 12. And they must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Registration for those 12 and under can be done on-site ONLY beginning Wednesday April 14, 2010.
