Route Distances
The 2012 Sea Otter Classic will offer three Gran Fondo routes—two road route options and one mountain bike route:
- Carmel Valley Route - 96 miles
- Coastal Route - 49.3 miles
- Mountain Bike Route - 20.2 miles
Route Start Times
All three Gran Fondo routes start and finish on Saturday, April 21, 2012 near the Athlete Registration building (Trackview Pavilion/Red Bull Energy Center).

Carmel Valley Route starts at 7:15 a.m.

Coastal Route starts at 9:00 a.m.

Mountain Bike Route starts at 9:30 a.m.
Registration and Packet Pick-Up Times
Please pick up your packet on-site at the Athlete Registration building on any of these days:

Wednesday, April 18, 2012 - noon to 6 p.m.

Thursday, April 19, 2012 - 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Friday, April 20, 2012 - 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Saturday, April 21, 2012 - 30 minutes only: 6 a.m. to 6:30 a.m.
Advance registration online is encouraged. On-site registration is also an option, April 18-20, during the packet pick-up times listed above. There is no Saturday on-site registration for the Gran Fondo.
What’s Included
All Gran Fondo participants receive a Sea Otter Classic Four-Day Festival Pass, providing access to the world's largest consumer bike exposition. (One-Day or Four-Day Passes may be purchased for family, friends, or others who want to visit the Expo and other Festival areas.)
All Gran Fondo participants are provided with the following:
- Celebratory lunch on Saturday at the route finish
- Fully supported rest stop and refueling stations
- Bike-and-bag valet service
- SAG support, including mobile tech
- Post-ride shower trailers
In addition, participants are entered in a special prize drawing taking place at 5 p.m. in the lunch tent. Prizes to be determined.
Registration: All Sea Otter Events
- Online registrations only through April 15, 2012, 11:59 p.m.
- On-site registration begins at noon on April 18, 2012.
- No phoned, faxed, or mailed race registrations will be accepted.
- Entries are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Prior to April 15, 2012, requests for event changes, and for category changes within an event, will be complimentary and can be done by emailing frosty@seaotterclassic.com. You will be responsible for any increase in entry fee. There will be no refunds for reduced entry fees.
- After April 18, 2012, requests for event changes, and for category changes within an event, will only be accepted on-site at registration. (Registration opens at noon on April 18.) A $10 fee will be charged for each event change, and you will also be responsible for any increase in entry fee. There will be no refunds for reduced entry fees.
Free Parking
Parking at the Sea Otter Classic is always free, whether you arrive by bike or by motor vehicle. Follow the directions to Laguna Seca Recreation Area, where our friendly parking staff will guide you to the appropriate parking location.
Carpools (three people or more), hybrids, and electric vehicles all get preferred parking. Please check out the "Parking" page of our website for detailed information.
