Important Race Information for Athletes

Professional and Junior Category 1 ONLY

Test your speed skills against your peers in this anaerobic hammer fest. The SRAM Short Track course is fast and challenging! Races will be 20 minutes plus 3 laps. Officials will pull all riders with the threat of being lapped.

  • Professional Athlete Entry fee: $50 (add $20 late fee after March 15, 2009).
  • Junior Category 1 Entry fee: $50 (add $20 late fee after March 15, 2009).
  • Entry fee includes an Athlete Hospitality Bag plus a four day Festival Pass valued at $30.  Parking is FREE all week.

On site Registration and Packet Pick-up Hours:
Wednesday: 12 noon to 6 pm
Thursday and Friday:  6am  to 6 pm

NO RACE DAY REGISTRATIONS - NO EXCEPTIONS.

Important Registration Information:

  • All fields are limited. Please register online early. In the case of small fields, categories/classes will be combined.
  • NO SAME DAY athlete registration. You must be registered by 6 pm the DAY PRIOR TO YOUR EVENT.
  • No phone or faxed entries will be accepted.
  • You must register online before April 12, 2009 or on site (beginning April 15, 2009) on a first-come-first-served basis.
  • All participants will sign a waiver/release form at registration. Those under 18-years-old require a parent's or guardian's signature.
  • USA Cycling-sanctioned. Riders must present a current ANNUAL USA Cycling license at registration if they are registering as an Junior Category 1 or Professional rider. Save time and purchase an Annual Racing License from USA Cycling at www.usacycling.org

  • Competitor age is determined by the age of the rider on Dec. 31, 2009.
  • SORRY, ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS.

General Event Rules/Information:

  • Medals will be awarded five (5) deep in all race categories. Podium winners MAY receive merchandise from various Sea Otter sponsors.
  • ANSI- or Snell-approved helmets required for all events.
  • Race numbers may not be cut, folded, altered or defaced in any way.
  • All USA Cycling rules apply.
  • Complete preliminary results will be available at www.seaotterclassic.com after Monday April 20, 2009. Final results will be made available no later than Friday April 24, 2009.
  • Sorry, no pets allowed at the event or in the camping areas. (per Monterey County Parks Department regulation).
  • Merchandise can be picked up near Athlete Registration.
  • All information is subject to change. Please verify your start times and other critical event issues at www.seaotterclassic.com and also onsite at Athlete Registration.

Awards Information:

  • Medals will be awarded five (5) deep in all race categories.Podium winners MAY receive merchandise from various Sea Otter sponsors.
  • Awards presentations immediately upon completion of race.
  • Athletes must be in attendance at the Awards Ceremony.
  • Awards will not be mailed - NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • Top ten preliminary Awards results will be posted within 15 minutes of competition completion. Any and all protests must be filed within 15 minutes of preliminary Awards results posting with the designated PROTEST OFFICIAL. Complete preliminary results will be available within three hours of race completion and posted online at www.seaotterclassic.com no later than Monday April 20, 2009.
  • Final results will be be posted and available at www.seaotterclassic.com no later Friday April 24, 2009. 
  • All protests must be filed with a designated Official within 15 minutes of preliminary results posting. All signed, official results are FINAL.
