The SRAM Downhill rewards racers who demonstrate fitness, precision handling, braking, and pedaling skills. This is not the typical alpine rim-basher course. The SRAM downhill course is a great mix of jumps, turns, pedaling sections and hi-rev speed traps, the course promises a challenge or two for you on the way down.
- Professional Entry Fee: $70 (add $20 late fee after March 15, 2009)
- Non-Pro Entry Fee: $65 (add $20 late fee after March 15, 2009)
- Entry fee includes an Athlete Hospitality Bag plus a four day Festival Pass valued at $30. Parking is FREE all week.

Important Event Information:
There will be no qualifying runs for any category. Start lists will be posted at the downhill start, downhill finish and at the registration tent ON RACE DAY. Times shown on the start list ARE NOT "time of day," Instead they are based on the amount of time that passes after the race start. A 1:30 start time means that you start 1 hour and 30 minutes after the race start time. 30-second start intervals during finals. Pros seeded based on final results in the 2008 USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships and the 2008 National Mountain Bike Series. Shuttle vehicles are provided during all practice and race times. Riders hooking rides on vehicles back to start will be disqualified (zero tolerance).

Wednesday,12 noon to 6 pm
Thursday - Friday, 6 am to 6 pm
No Saturday Registration for Category 2 and 3 Downhill racers - NO EXCEPTIONS.
Saturday 6am-3pm Category 1 ONLY Registration and Packet Pick-up
No Sunday registration for Professional or Category 1 Downhill racers - NO EXCEPTIONS.
NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION - NO EXCEPTIONS.
Important Registration Information:
- USA Cycling-sanctioned. Riders must present a current ANNUAL USA Cycling license at registration if they are registering as a Professional or Category 1 rider. One day race permits are available during online registration process or on-site for $10.00 for Category 3 and Category 2 racers. Save time and purchase an Annual Racing License from USA Cycling at www.usacycling.org

- All Juniors (except Junior Category 1), racers must purchase at least a one-day race permit (either online or on-site) - please allow for extra time at Athlete Registration if you are purchasing a one day race race permit.
- No phone or faxed entries will be accepted.
- You must enter online before April 12, 2009 or on site (beginning April 15, 2009) on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Competitor age is determined by the age of the rider on Dec. 31, 2009.
General Event Rules:
- All fields are limited. Please register early. In the case of small fields, categories/classes may be combined.
- All participants will sign a waiver/release form at registration. Those under 18 years old require a parent's or guardian's signature who is present on-site.
- ANSI or Snell approved helmets required for all events.
- Race numbers may not be cut, folded, altered or defaced in any way.
- All USA Cycling rules apply.
- Sorry, no pets allowed at the event or in camping areas (by regulation of the Monterey County Parks Department).
- Merchandise orders can be picked up near Athlete Registration and pick-up hours MAY different than those of Athlete Registration.
- All information is subject to change - please check this website frequently.
- Please verify start times and other critical event issues when checking in at registration.
- SORRY, ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS.
Awards:
- Medals will be awarded 5 deep in all categories and podium winners may receive prize merchandise from various Sea Otter sponsors.
- Professional Athletes will recieve cash prizes - a prize purse total of $3000.00
- Awards presentations on the Main Awards Stage approximately one hour after race finish.
- All protests must be filed with a designated Official within 15 minutes of preliminary top ten AWARDS results posting. Complete preliminary results will be available within three hours of competition completion. ALL competition results will be FINAL and posted at www.seaotterclassic.com NO LATER THAN Friday April 24, 2009.
- All signed, top ten official results are FINAL. Any top 10 protests must be filed within 15 minutes of initial preliminary results posting. All preliminary race results will be posted on or near the Main Awards Stage.
- After competition day, only protests outside of the TOP TEN finishers in each category MAY be accepted, and race results MAY be adjusted up until FINAL posting on Friday April 24, 2009.
- Athletes must be in attendance at the Awards Ceremony to receive their prizes.
- Awards will not be mailed - NO EXCEPTIONS.
