    Close 1. Do I need a license to race as a beginner?

    To participate in any of the competitive events at the Sea Otter Classic you will need a license issued by USA Cycling. If you do not have an annual license and are riding in any of the following categories, you should purchase one online when you register



    2. Do I need to be an expert rider?

    No, riders start out in a rookie class and work their way up. We have riders as young as 3 years old, and some riders too old to admit their age. All at varying degrees of ability. The only real requirement is that the rider be able to control the bike



    3. How do I get an NBL License?

    You can get an NBL License right at the track. NBL membership is $45.00 per year, beginning on the day you sign-up. We offer a 30 day trial membership for $30.00. You can convert it to a full membership for an additional $15.00.



    4. How do I register by mail?

    We do not accept entries by mail, fax, or over the phone. We only accpet on-line or on-site entries.



    5. On what date do late fees begin?

    All entries processed online after March 20, 2008



    6. What about safety gear?
    You need a long sleeve shirt, long pants, closed soft sole shoes (no sandals or dress shoes), and a helmet with mouth guard. Helmets are available to rent for $1 at the track. Gloves are highly recommended, but not required. Elbow and knee pads are also

    7. What does it take to get started in BMX?

    Well, basically, you need a bike and some basic safety gear and an NBL License.



    8. What kind of bike do I need?

    The bike doesn't have to be a special race bike. It just needs to be in safe working condition. We recommend that you have top tube, handlebar and stem pads. Reflectors and chain guards should be removed.



    9. What should I be careful about when pre-riding and riding the cross-country courses?

    The cross-country course for the 2007 Sea Otter Classic will be the same as in 2006, however bringing a map is never a bad idea. Please respect the land and stay on the trail. The Bureau of Land Management has rangers out on race weekend and if you stray
